Happy Sunday, folks!
Despite the general UK being in an apparent heatwave, Belfast’s weather still managed to be as erratic as it usually is. There are (short) bursts of heavy rain, glimpses of sunshine here and there, and the unsurprising mostly consistent drab cloudy scene - all the while maintaining a warm-ish temperature throughout the week. Given that, a lot of this week was spent sleeping in and sleeping late. Honestly not a mode I want to be in, but in the meantime, I am allowing myself to just be. This week may be pretty uneventful for me but regardless, I still try to squeeze every inch of it for lovely moments that make me happy.
Here’s a list of my favorite °˖glimmers˖° that made my days a little brighter the past week:
✧˖° First ‘long-distance’ walk after a while, at 10km with 14K+ steps. That was a particularly meditative activity, trying to retrace some of my favorites spots in the city.
✧˖° Audiobooks during walks! It was fun revisiting Tita Rosie’s Kitchen Mysteries. No matter what, anything Filipino still brings a particular type of comfort to me.
✧˖° My sunflower love affair starting again.🌻
✧˖° Finally booked a physio appointment for the first time and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It also just felt nice having my pain validated.

✧˖° That Modern Love episode featuring an interview with Ocean Vuong hit so hard - on inherent kindness, compassion, and moments of grace given by random people that casually changes the trajectory of someone’s life. It’s life-changing, and profound, in the best ways.
✧˖° The idea of satori - a moment of sudden enlightenment or awakening, those brief moments of illumination, that reveals one’s true nature. I love this idea so much, and it also sparked my interest again in Buddhism as a way of life. I really liked this interview that I ended up buying a Buddhism book from the bookstore after it.
✧˖° That little patch of afternoon sunshine on my bed. 🌞
✧˖° An OPM1 song to chill to. This reminds me so vividly of my teenage cold summer nights spent in the veranda, listening to music from the radio.
✧˖° This Joy Woods version of Still Hurting from The Last Five Years! This is one of my favorite musical theatre songs and for years, my favorite has always been this Lea Salonga’s rehearsal video (!). I just recently came across her version this weekend and it shot straight to so close to the top of my favorites. The voice, but most of all, the acting? Come on! Specifically around the 3:20 mark to the end of the video, I wanted to cry for some imaginary heartbreak that I feel I have while listening to her sing this song. 😭
✧˖° Eating home-made cream cheese frosting by the spoonful while reading and blogging, to wind down for the week. Bliss. ✨
